Bomar & Ritter @ Cooper Vineyards

11/17/2018 @ 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Mary Bomar and Bob Ritter met in Nashville, Tennessee and for more than 28 years have been performing their brand of acoustic /pop music. They are proficient performers, drawing on diverse influences such as Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg, Bonnie Raitt, Neil Young, The Beatles and the Eagles (to name a few!). Mary and Bob are known for their tight harmony, intricate guitar arrangements and lighthearted stage manner.

Veterans of the stage, they have performed at: the nationally known Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee; Kentucky Homefront Radio Show, Kentucky Music Weekend and The Crescent Hill Art and Music Festival, WHAS 11 Television’s Great Day Live in Louisville, Kentucky; the Indiana State Fair; the (former) Ohio River Valley Folk Festival in Madison, Indiana; the Metamora Old Time Music Festival in Metamora, Indiana; The Hedgehog Music Showcase in Arcadia, Indiana; the historic Pixy Theatre in Edinburgh, Indiana, and a wide variety of other venues throughout the South, East and Midwest. They are an endorsed band of The Fogelberg Foundation of Peoria, and in October 2016, they were the featured performers at The 7th Annual Dan Fogelberg Celebration in Portland, Maine. They returned as the headliners in September 2017 at the 8th Annual Celebration in Nashville, Tennessee. They are also seasoned National Anthemists, singing the Anthem at Vanderbilt University Baseball, Basketball and Football games; Indianapolis Indians, Louisville Bats and Nashville Sounds Minor League Baseball games; and Indiana Pacers NBA Basketball games.

Mary is from Cismont, Virginia. She performed in the nearby Charlottesville area as a solo act and with local favorites “Backstreet Mission” and “Watchtower” before moving to Nashville in 1985. An extremely versatile vocalist, she takes audiences from a tender love song to a rocking, wailing blues number with ease. She has written music for and sung in several documentaries including “Lady Liberty – A Musical Salute” narrated by Hal Linden. She also had a brief appearance as a guitar playing mom in the motion picture “Trading Mom” starring Sissy Spacek and Maureen Stapleton. She counts among her musical influences artists such as Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt and Ray Charles.

Bob is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He started performing in the Indianapolis area with Craig Blattner’s band, then with Bill Rumely in an acoustic duo, and later in the popular act, ”Acoustic Avenue” (with Brice Bowman and Peg Wright), before moving to Nashville in 1988. A smooth guitar player, he is known his honest presentation, and for the visual imagery and storytelling lyrics in his songs. Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor, and Neil Young are among artists who have influenced Bob’s style.

Join us in welcoming them with a glass of your favorite 53rd wine!
