The Jim and Doug are based out of Richmond VA and have been performing in the Central Virginia area for about 6 years. They also perform with a larger ensemble, as the Anvil Brothers.

Doug and Jim met in 2002. Jim had just returned from a successful tour of Mainland China where he performed in Bejing at the National Cultural Arts Concert Hall on Tiananmen Square. The concert was broadcast live to over 7million people. He also performed an impromptu concert on the Great Wall of China.

Jim and Doug have also performed in what was formerly West Germany.

The bands’ music is based on acoustic instruments and covers many genres’ of music commonly referred to as “Americana”. This encompasses everything from 30’s-40’s swing jazz to country, folk, modern string music, rock-n-roll and rockabilly. Jim and Doug’s repertoire includes artists such as Bill Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, Gillian Welch, Lyle Lovett and the Beatles. Typical comments by fans are that they love the mix of tunes, the level of musicianship, the harmonies, the humor and the original material. Even Governor McAuliffe and his wife have caught a set of the larger group at Legend Brewery in Richmond.

Doug and Jim are both award winning musicians; Doug as State Championship guitarist, and Jim for fiddle, banjo and band.

The Anvil Brothers 1st CD will be available in early spring of 2018. Jim and Doug will have a CD ready by summer of 2018.
